We’re returning to West Chester! Level Up has been selected to screen at the 6th annual West Chester International Short Film Festival. This is really exciting, because first, they run a great festival, and second, Tripping Up was awarded Best Comedy at West Chester last year!

The Greater Philadelphia Film Office profiled the local filmmakers who will be screening at FirstGlance Philadelphia in October. It’s exciting to be included in such a diverse and talented group. Read about the Philadelphia filmmakers and their films here. Then plan on coming to the festival!
Tripping Up was just named a Semi-Finalist in the Action/Cut 2009 Short Film Competition. This was the 6th annual competition run by Action/Cut, and received more than 1,000 entrants from all over the world. Action/Cut was founded by Guy Magar, an accomplished film and television director. A while back I took a film making workshop conducted by Guy, and found his direct and practical approach extremely helpful. I highly recommend the two-day Action/Cut workshops if you are looking for solid advice on film production, including networking and film funding. He knows his stuff and doesn’t mince words.

Tripping Up has been selected to screen at FirstGlance Film Festival Philadelphia! The longest running indie film festival in Philadelphia is in its 12th year, and will take place October 22-25. The selection committee from the DC Shorts Film Festival wrote about Tripping Up, calling it, “a sweet, simple story that is told in a way that still appears refreshingly young and innocent.”
Laura Piccoli and Leo Koorhan, the young stars of Tripping Up, play the parts of Maggie and Tim in the film Level Up. Mia Vallet, another beautiful and talented actor from Lower Merion, plays the part of Amanda.
Sunday night was a good night. Tripping Up won Best Comedy at the 2009 West Chester Film Festival, and was runner up for Best Film by a Pennsylvania Filmmaker. Leo accepted the award. The awards party was held at The Note in West Chester – cool place if you are ever out that way.
